Just the other day the artistically talented German-based fellow Mr. Andi Papelitsky informed me of a review on the upcoming book HELLO, do YOU work here? from Alterna Comics, of which Andy and I both contributed illustrations for. (By the way, if you'd like to check out Andy's excellent piece, Shell of a Time, for the book you can see it right. over. here!) "and Douglas Draper, Jr., who impresses with a photo-realistic ink-and-wash style that owes something to the New York tenement stories of Will Eisner." AND you can read the full article from BlogCritics riiiiiight here! Thanks for the heads up Andy! (and thanks as well goes to reviewer Mr. Kerr for accepting my bride. Nyuk nyuk)

Good day all! Thought I'd toss up an illustration I've recently completed for the book HELLO, do YOU work here? from Alterna Comics. The book's concept is wonderful in it's simplicity and is one of the reasons I was really excited to be a part of it. Basically, it's a group of very short stories, around 30 or so, about memorable experiences people have had at various jobs i.e. comic book shop, fast food restaurant, law firm, and so on. Places we've all worked at throughout our lives and can relate to. My story, written by Christina Brown and title "Too Expensive", is about a older Russian couple and a clerk from Michael's, the arts and crafts store. This one was especially fun 'cause I too worked at Michael's. The summer before I left for college actually. And man, did they have the WORST elevator music EV. ER. ...okay, that has nothing t do with the story but... really, they do! (personal opinion of course) The book hits shelves this June so if you're interested in snaggin' yourself a copy or would like to find out more info on it you can click riiiiiight... here! |
