I wanted to pass along the excellent news that the 13th annual CCART Art Show is upon us. For those of you that may not know the Cavallaro and Cleary Visual Art Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in support of visual arts. The primary goal is to provide scholarships to talented high school seniors residing on the Lower Eastern Shore of Delaware, Maryland & Virginia seeking continuing education at their school of choice in the study of Visual Art. CCART also provides a venue for regional artists and art students to sell their work at the annual CCART fundraising art sale. 30% of each sale from the show goes directly to the Cavallaro and Cleary Visual Art Foundation.
I've participated in the show for the last 3 years and it's been a pleasure to be a part of. The variety of work available is so vast there's literally something for everyone. From painting & drawing to sculpture & crafts, something will surely catch your attention.
I'm also very excited as I'll have available for the show an extremely limited edition one-of-a-kind print. I've team-up with Baltimore's Archival Arts
to create a fine art print using high quality archival watercolor paper and archival inks - a process known as Giclée, which enables the print to maintain it's current appearance by never fading, yellowing or changing in anyway. This is also an "artist proof", very limited and fully matted & framed.I'm happy to say as well that the print is of a piece done for The Country, a series of true real-life short stories. If you'd like to know a little more about those you can visit previous posts here, here and right here.
The reception for the show is this evening from 4-9pm with a Silent Auction from 4-8pm. It's was an absolutely wonderful time last year with wine, food, live music and of course, a bountiful display of artwork. And I imagine it'll be even better this year. All for the great cause of helping graduating high school students pursue the arts throughout college. Foundations like CCART are what enabled me to have the career that I myself enjoy today. Doesn't get any better than that.If you'd like to visit the CCART website for more info such as hours & dates you can do so by visiting www.CCARTFoundation.org. Come join us for the annual "Lucky 13" CCART Art Show & Sale.See you there!

See ya out there!
Just wanted to pass along some cool news to you. I'm extremely excited to announce I will be the "Featured Artist" at today's 3rd FRIDAY. This month's event is Comics-Themed and will be the first outdoors 3rd FRIDAY of the year.
In going along with the theme I'll have a select number of comic book pages on display from my past work AND my most recent (and soon-to-be-published!) comic book, LAST CARESS. And if you enjoy flipping through portfolios I'll also have that leather-bound fellow present for any eager fingers. Along with this I'll be getting my hands dirty doing sketches of any and all varieties. You name it, I'm drawing it!
And of course, like all 3rd FRIDAYs there are many other excellent things going down - including my pals, and masters of the medium, PLB COMICS. Continuing with the comics celebration the good guys of PLB will be doing sketches, selling their comics, displaying their artwork, teaching how to draw comics to the wee ones, and many other comic-related activities that fall under the category of "FUN".
There will also be the most enjoyment one can have with a ping pong ball and a wall of amazing pottery - this they call, Pottery Pong. My good friends at Amused Studios will be setup with Pottery Pong. Simple rules: Toss the ball in the pottery. Pretty easy, right? Once you start though, you can't stop. It's addictive in the best way possible.
Along with all of this there's an anime screening, live music from the Interesting Monsters & The Larks, food from Higher Grounds Espresso Catering, and... ROBOTS. Yeah, the US First Robotics Team 3389 will be there with actual real-life robots. How can one resist that?! If I wasn't setup I'd be going. And yet there's still more but my fingers are tiring so...
Come out today and enjoy the festivities. I'll be setup, along with PLB, in the Powell Building right downtown on the beautiful Salisbury Plaza. And with this being the first outdoors 3rd FRIDAY of the year the weatherman is predicting gorgeous weather. Even more reason to stop by.
See you there!
If you're in the area the wonderful CCART Art Show will going on in downtown Salisbury, MD from 4pm 'till. It's featuring a multitude of artists from the area, including yours truly. This will be the second year I've personally contributed to the show, this time around showcasing a number of prints of my comic book and illustrative work. Also in the show are two extremely talented ceramicists and very good friends of mine - Robert Johnson (cool name, right?) & Sarah Halcott from Amused Studios. They have on display a number of they're works, from clay pottery & mugs to handbuilt sculpture & ceramic drums.
CCART is also partnered up with Downtown Salisbury's monthly arts event, 3rd FRIDAY - which is celebrating the opening of Mojos, as well as the November Tree Lighting.

I've been wanting to post this for a little while now but it kept slipping my mind beneath the piles of paper, pencils, brushes and ink. But now that I've recently emerged, temporarily of course, I've finally gotten around to it.
This is a little something I won at the 19th Annual Juried Exhibition at the Art Institute & Gallery. The piece this award is attached to is an illustration called Too Expensive (if you take a glance above at the header there's quick snippet of it) and was done for a book from Alterna Comics. Great people and books over there. If you have a moment you should check them out. Good folks for sure.
Of the awards and acknowledgments I've taken home in the past I have to say this one here I'm truly proud of. Not because it "placed", which it didn't, but because it was a People's Choice Award, which means a lot to me. It wasn't a favorite piece in the mind of the judge but instead that of the people at the show themselves.
This struck a cord with me and I'd like to send out my sincere appreciation to those who came to the exhibition, enjoyed the piece and voted for it. Thank you.
I've now got a nice emerald green friend that hangs out with me everyday on the wall next to my desk.
Just wanted to let you all know I'm having my work shown this weekend at the Gowanus Ballroom in New York. The opening for the show is this evening from 6pm until' in Brooklyn. I don't have much time to ramble on about how excited I am about this so good ole' fashioned face-value excitement is as much as I can offer at the moment. I will say I'll have 9 of my original illustrative pieces on display and you can see a few examples of those on the Gowanus Ballroom website HERE.Last night I did stop by to take a look at the space and I will say out of all the shows I've been a part of this one is easily one of the most unique, broad-minded, and ambitious exhibitions I've taken part in.The coordinators Josh Young and Ursula Viglietta have really done an outstanding job and I'm truly looking forward to the opening tonight. If you happen to be in the New York area you're more than welcome to stop by. Should be a great time. To take a quote from Josh:"You're not going to want to leave".You can check out their website at www.gowanusballroom.com for information on this show as well as past shows. If you'd like to see the impressive list of featured artists you can do so right HERE. Contact and location info is below.Gowanus Ballroom
